Encouraging love for the Word of God

Events in Israel's history are often examples for us today (1 Cor. 10:11). That is one reason why we pray for Israel's leaders to read and study God's Word. So we were pleased to hear that Israeli Prime Minister [PM] Benjamin 'Bibi' Netanyahu said that he is restarting a Bible study group at his official Jerusalem residence. He added that Israel's first PM, David Ben-Gurion, saw the Book of Books as our mandate for our country, and as …the unique spiritual, cultural and historic heritage of our people, as well as a cornerstone of all of human culture.

PM Menachem Begin also had Bible studies at his residence. Bibi's goal in restarting this practice is to encourage love of the Bible among government officials, and by extension, the nation. ("Netanyahu to hold official Bible studies," Israel Today, 11 Dec. 2011)
