Staying on Track

  • In Intercessors for Israel prayer meetings, the leadership asks those assembled to form small groups (three to four individuals is recommended) and introduces subjects for prayer. In corporate prayer, we do not pray whatever comes into our heart/mind. We need to stay on track and exercise discipline to be sharpshooters in prayer and hit the center of the target.

  • If someone in your group goes off track, another individual should gently remind the group of the subject. If this becomes a problem, speak with the leadership.

  • If the particular direction does not bear witness with you, be silent. Do not try to change or pray in opposition to that direction: This too shall pass.

  • If a certain subject/burden is heavy on your heart, then trust the Lord to bring this matter to the attention of the leadership in His time. Note: If you find yourself often in opposition to the guidance of the leadership, then consider finding another prayer meeting.

Participation

  • Keep your prayers short, so that everyone has the opportunity to participate. Do not dominate your group, but be patient, giving others space to pray.

  • When you use Scripture, use it as a sword, not as a club, i.e., do not read entire chapters but only a few pertinent verses, using those verses as a springboard for your own prayer. Be sure to state the Scripture reference, so your group can follow along with you.

Punctuality

  • Make an effort to come on time. Punctuality is part of our discipline, and when you arrive late, you disrupt the flow of the prayer meeting.

Binding and loosing

  • Do not bind or loose. If you sense that the Lord is leading in the direction of spiritual warfare, speak to the leadership. If there is agreement, we will enter into warfare together, in the Spirit and with understanding.

Specific word

  • If you believe the Lord is giving you a specific word or Scripture portion for the entire group, speak to the leadership. If there is agreement, we will share this information with everyone.
  • We desire to give the Holy Spirit liberty to lead us. At the same time, we are coming together as a spiritual army and, as mentioned previously, we must be disciplined. We want to be effective and hit the mark, giving the Lord all honor, glory, and praise.
