1. Thanksgiving:

Psalm 124:1-8 We began our meeting this morning praising and thanking the Lord for being the only one who is the source of life, light, protection:

    • Our help is in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth.

      Psalm 124:8
    • Thank you that Your mercies are new every morning.

    • You bring us out of darkness into light.

    • You have a rich variety of ways to bring back Your people to Your land. You watch over us and plant us never to be uprooted again.

    • Hodu l'Adonai ki tov, ki le'olam chasdo. Give thanks to the Lord for He is good and His mercies endure forever.

      Psalm 118:1
  2. Benyamin Netanyahu:

1 Timothy 2:1-7 Israel's Prime Minister is under incredible pressure in these times as the nations try to push him into the role they want him to fulfil. We need to continue to uphold him in prayer as well as those around him in the leadership of the nation.

    • …for…all who are in authority.

      1 Timothy 2:2
    • Thank You for the anointing You have placed on Benyamin Netanyahu to lead Israel at such a time as this. Give him strength, boldness, wisdom, direction in response to all the challenges both externally and internally.

    • May he seek Your wisdom, not his own and continue to seek to know and understand and proclaim Your word.

    • Give him understanding of the times like the sons of Issachar, to know what Israel ought to do (1 Chronicles 12:32).

    • Surround him with good counsel from counselors who know Your will and give him discernment what/whom to listen to or not.

    • Maintain peace in his family and give opportunities for refreshment, especially at Shabbat.

    • Bring him into relationship with Yeshua!

  3. Municipal Elections:

On 22nd October elections will be held throughout Israel to appoint mayors and local councils.

    • Pray for righteous leaders to be elected and for righteousness to be demonstrated in local government which is usually such fertile ground for corruption. Especially pray for righteousness in Tel-Aviv where the homosexual issue is at the forefront in the election process.

    • Righteousness exalts a nation, But sin is a reproach to any people.

      Proverbs 14:34
    • Be exalted in the cities and towns of Israel. Now this is His name by which He will be called: The Lord our Righteousness. (Jeremiah 23:6)

    • Thank You for the role Nir Barkat has played as mayor of Jerusalem. Please grant that he would be re-elected.

    • Pray for the towns and cities of Israel by name. The largest are: Jerusalem, Tel-Aviv, Haifa, Rishon LeZion, Petah Tikva, Ashdod, Beersheva, Holon, Netanya, Bnei Brak, Ramat Gan, Bat Yam, Rehovot, Ashkelon, Herzliya, Kfar Saba, Hadera, Beit Shemesh, Modi'in, Nazareth.

  4. Syria:

The world is delighted even captivated by its own ability to negotiate peace with the international community overseeing the process of disarming Syria of its chemical and biological weapons. We need to continue our vigilance in praying for Israel's protection in the midst of this. Pray:

    • That this disarmament process would rid Syria of these horrific weapons.

    • That Israel would not get drawn in to the on-going conflict and for the protection of her borders. He makes peace in your borders, and fills you with the finest wheat (Psalm 147:14).

    • There would be no kidnappings of Israeli soldiers nor civilians.

    • For continued alertness of the leaders of the IDF and they would see what the enemy is doing and planning. Guard against complacency during a time when the threat seems to have diminished.

    • That the lie of peace would be exposed in Syria and at least some in the world would have their eyes open.

    • For mercy upon the people of Syria and that in the midst of hopelessness many Syrians would place their hope in You.

  5. Egypt:

We read Isaiah 19:1-4 and 16-20. Much of this looks as though it could be happening today.

    • As with Syria pray for IDF leaders to be alert and aware and guarded against complacency.

    • Pray for the truth of verse 17 today: And the land of Judah will be a terror to Egypt. and Egypt would not dare to rise up against Israel.

    • Egyptians are leaving Islam today out of disillusionment. Pray that multitudes would turn to the Lord and find Him.

  6. Iran:

Again the world is being seduced by the "charm offensive" of President Rouhani. Britain and the United States are publicly pursuing the restoration of diplomatic relations with Iran while all the evidence shows that Iran remains intent on building nuclear weapons. Israel then remains under the existential threat from an Iranian nuclear weapon. Pray:

    • That Israel would be led by God to know what to do.

    • That others in Israel and not just Prime Minister Netanyahu would be alert to the realities of the Iranian threat.

    • That God might act sovereignly to shake the earth and cause it to swallow up the centrifuges enriching uranium in Iran for the creation of a nuclear weapon.

    • That at least some in the world would see behind the mask Iran is wearing and recognize the truth.

    • That the international community would not reduce the economic sanctions against Iran.

  7. Mourning for Ovadia Yosef:

Earlier this week over 800,000 mourners gathered in Jerusalem to mark the death of Rabbi Ovadia Yosef, the largest gathering in the modern history of this nation. Pray:

    • That in their grief the people would not feel abandoned by God but would draw near to Him.

    • For revelation of the identity of the Jewish Messiah - Yeshua who is alive while Ovadia Yosef is dead.

    • That Israel would turn away from idolatry.

  8. Salvation of Israel:

Oh Lord, save Your people, the remnant of Israel.

    Jeremiah 31:7
    • In the light of Zechariah 12:10-11 pray for the Lord to pour out a spirit of grace and supplication to mourn as one mourns for an only son. As 800,000 mourned this week for a dead rabbi and this is the same as the number of modern-day inhabitants of Jerusalem, so we look for Israel to recognize her Messiah and to be saved!

  9. Aliyah:

    This week's Torah reading in the synagogues around the world is "Lech Lecha" beginning in Genesis 12:1 with the call of Abram: Get out of your country, from your family and from your father's house, to a land that I will show you. So this has remained the calling of the Jewish people, his children ever since. Pray;

    • That Israel would be seen as the place of promise, security, future and hope for the Jews.

    • Thanks that a remnant of Israel is already saved. May they return to Israel and that God would especially bring home those not yet saved.

    • That wealthy and entrepreneurial Jews would desire to invest in Eretz Israel.

    • That Jews who own property in Israel but live overseas would want to live in the homes they bought in Israel.

    • That many would realize that their excuses for not making aliyah are empty.

The Council of Europe recently recommended that circumcision be regarded as an infringement of the rights of a child. In effect this was a cursing of the Jews (c.f. Genesis 12:3)

    • Lord let Your people recognize this humanistic ruling for what it is and come home to Israel!

Shabbat Shalom!
